What Makes CEREC Crowns Better Than Traditional Crowns?

CEREC crowns provide one day service

If you’re looking to get a dental crown or your dentist has suggested that a dental crown could benefit you, then you may start to hear talk of something called a CEREC crown or a same-day crown. The question arises: Is whatever that is a better choice for you than a traditional dental crown? At Dental Solutions of Avon, we’re proud to offer our patients the option of CEREC dental crowns, so we’d be happy to explain further about the many advantages this modern treatment has compared to conventional crowns.

Save Time

Amid the many benefits of CEREC crowns, the one many patients appreciate the most is how much faster the whole treatment process goes. When you get a traditional dental crown, you have to go to the dentist for multiple visits to complete the whole procedure. First, you go to get your tooth prepared and a temporary crown placed. Then you come back to get the temporary removed and the permanent crown placed. On top of that, there can be a couple of weeks in between both of these as you wait for the dental lab to make your permanent dental crown.

With a CEREC crown, all of that time and all of those visits are compressed into just one appointment. Don’t worry—that doesn’t mean you lose on quality. It just means that there is a state-of-the-art CEREC machine that can create your crown on the spot in a matter of minutes instead of having to use and wait for a dental lab. You’ll be able to walk out of that one visit with your permanent crown already in place.

Enjoy Less Hassle

Getting a CEREC crown also comes with some other pluses in terms of comfort and convenience. For example, the CEREC machine uses digital impressions so we don’t have to use that gooey putty material in impression trays, which some patients dislike the feeling of. Additionally, you don’t have to bother with wearing a temporary crown, which some patients don’t enjoy because of fit or sensitivity issues.

Expect Precision

Another advantage of having a CEREC machine on-site is that if there are any adjustments that need to be made to your dental crown after we place it, we can take care of them right then and there. This is compared to having to wait a bit longer to work with the lab and get a better-fitting crown. You’ll be able to leave our doors confident that everything looks and feels great.
