Crowns & Fixed Bridges

Dental crowns are essentially tooth-colored caps that fit over a damaged tooth to restore its original appearance and functionality. They are used on teeth after large fillings, fractures, or when a tooth is weakened by intense grinding. They can also be used to:

  • Attach a bridge
  • Cover dental implants
  • Restore seriously misshapen or discolored teeth
  • Serve as a preventive measure for a tooth that is in danger of breaking

Crowns are used not just to cover teeth, but to provide extra durability as well. Crowns can be made completely out of porcelain (ceramic) or can be combined with gold or metal alloys as well. Each material has advantages and disadvantages, but they are all stable, long-lasting options. Porcelain crowns tend to be the most natural-looking, which is why our team prefers to go with them.

If a tooth has reached a point where it is decayed or damaged beyond repair and needs to be removed, a great tooth replacement option is a fixed bridge. Dental bridges do what their name implies, that is, they “bridge” the gap that is created by one or more missing teeth. Dental bridges can be supported by natural teeth that have crowns placed on top, or by implant-supported crowns. Our bridges are also made to look natural and blend in seamlessly with the rest of the teeth.

Tooth-Colored (Composite) Fillings

Composite fillings are a combination of quartz or glass filler in a resin medium that makes a tooth-colored dental filling. The filling is cured with a special light and the surface is polished and shaped, so the final result is virtually indistinguishable from the rest of the teeth and feels comfortable and natural. Composite fillings are very sturdy and durable. Because the fillings are bonded to the teeth instead of being held in place mechanically, this process is more conservative than other types of fillings, allowing more of the healthy tooth to remain. This generally results in smaller fillings.

Porcelain Veneers

If you’ve always wanted to achieve a Hollywood-worthy smile, porcelain veneers are the way to go! Using custom, thin sheets of porcelain, we can conceal any teeth that are broken, chipped, misaligned, or discolored. The best part about this cosmetic treatment is that you can figure out exactly how you want your smile to look and it is a permanent procedure.

Traditional Orthodontics

If you have been thinking about pursuing orthodontic treatment for yourself or your child, Dental Solutions of Avon offers traditional braces that can quickly and efficiently straighten misaligned teeth. Traditional braces are what most people imagine when they think of braces: metal brackets that are placed on the teeth and connected by a wire. However, the clunky, uncomfortable braces that were used many years ago have been replaced with sleek metal braces that are less noticeable, less painful, and have a shorter average treatment time.
